Somatics is a neuromuscular practice that uses the technique of pandiculation to retrain muscle memory and relieve pain. This mindbody practice trains the nervous system in how to release chronic muscle tension and to move in natural, efficient ways.
Rest in the rich sounds and vibrations of sacred Sanskrit chants that arose in ancient India as part of ritual and devotional practices. Participants may be in seated or reclined meditation, or restorative yoga poses. Listening to and resting in these sounds will support your subtle energy system and calm your nervous system.
Experience the transformative sound and vibration of ancient Sanskrit mantras from India, which hold wisdom passed down through the ages. Chanting mantra is a practice integrating breath, mind and body, which may result in states of calm, clarity and joy—an inner luminosity that occurs when one connects with one’s true nature, or deepest self. Participants will be encouraged and supported in using their own voice to fully experience these mantras, but simply listening or repeating the sounds inwardly is also supported. Class will end with a period of quiet stillness: reclined rest, a restorative pose, or seated meditation.
Learn about the Bija seed sounds associated with the seven main energy centers of your subtle energy circuitry. Chanting or listening to the seed sounds while focusing on these centers, or chakras, can support their flow and function, bringing bliss and greater well being. Participants can chant if they wish, or simply listen while sitting, reclining or resting in supported restorative poses.
Combining deeply restful supported poses with gentle yoga and other movement modalities, this class will ease you toward relaxation and well-being. May include chanting, Restorative yoga, somatics, gentle yoga, simple breathwork, and a short guided meditation–all part of an experience designed to bring calm and groundedness.
